Position:	Business Technology - Project Manager
Reports To:	SVP, Distributed Technology
Direct Reports:	Business Analysts, Sr. Programmer Analysts
Indirect Reports:	Business Leaders
Overall Purpose and Main Objectives:	Manage and coordinate technology oriented project work with internal and external resources. This position is accountable for managing the entire system project life cycle and coordinating the development of effective business systems to meet strategic objectives. Responsible for managing organizational change through technology initiatives while building strong positive working relationships. Position requires the ability to create technology solutions when none exist. The ability to work within a mid-sized organization with outsourced technical staff.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:	1. Coordinates and directs a team of professionals toward the achievement of business plan objectives through “technology oriented” project implementations. Actively works with user/business areas to provide automated solutions that provide financial and workflow benefits through effective integration strategies. 2. Coordinates with Application Managers to enforce strong working relations with developers, business areas, vendors and Alliance Partners to complete projects on time and on budget. 3. Identifies and documents high level business requirements, crafts test strategies, develops and executes testing methodologies and templates, verifies overall results and coordinates issue resolution as a liaison with outsourced technical support, vendors and other members of the Alliance. 4. Directs the project management and development in all Property & Casualty functions for Core and Specialty systems. Coordinates with the appropriate business and technical areas to achieve project objectives. Maintain proper scope, risk and change management levels throughout the project life cycle. 5. Coordinates with technology vendors to establish project plans and product deliverables. Assists in the evaluation of vendor proposals for purchasing hardware, software and technical services. 6. Oversees on-going system maintenance including tracking, critical system problems and outages. Coordinates information to assist in timely problem resolution. Works and partners with business groups to assess the severity and relative priorities of problems. 7. Assists in the selection and development of a trained staff of professionals. Sets priorities, objectives and monitors performance to ensure timely delivery of projects within budget. Ability to build effective teams to ensure project delivery.
Required Knowledge and Experience:
Entry:	* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience * 6-9 years’ experience in project management and the delivery of business systems * Sound knowledge of n-tier architecture within multi-platform environments * Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills * Good understanding of property/casualty insurance terms and processes * Ability to manage and motivate a team of systems professionals * Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications * Proficiency in MS Project required
Fully Qualified:	* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience * 8 – 10 years’ experience in Project Management and the delivery of business systems * Sound knowledge of n-tier architecture within multi-platform environments * Prior experience in programming and/or the construction of technology desired * Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills * Good understanding of property/casualty insurance terms and processes * Ability to manage and motivate a team of systems professionals * Thorough knowledge of MS Office applications * Proficiency in MS Project required
Physical Requirements:	Normal office environment Some overnight travel required Some nights and weekends required
