Overall Purpose and Main Objectives:	This position is accountable for assessing the financial basis and viability of renewal business in individual agency books of business in support of the company's objectives for growth, profitability, service and quality
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:	* Evaluates the risk characteristics and loss potential of renewal business, and accepts, declines, or modifies endorsements for changes to policies to ensure an acceptable level of risk. * Re-underwrites a client's existing book of business based on a review of claims to establish risk profiles. Reviews claim data to ensure the continued acceptability of policies and the adequacy of rates. * Supports Production Underwriters in the underwriting of new business applications to achieve annual objectives, as needed. * Supports the "Partnership" contingency plan and works with the agency as needed to be successful in achieving the desired result. * Conducts agency visits to provide training, promote client retention, and advance company products and programs. * Participates in quality assurance sessions and developmental activities such as monthly underwriting meetings, joint agency calls, and pursuit of insurance industry professional designations. * Assists in training less senior staff members and leads projects and participates on special team projects (e.g., competitive intelligence data gathering, agency focus groups, new product introductions, sales contests, agent advisory councils, etc.). Troubleshoots problems and determines resolutions within the scope of authority.
Required Knowledge and Experience:	* Knowledge of Agency Management Software plus word-processing, excel and working with Internet based rating. * Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience * Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills * 1-3 years of underwriting personal lines property/casualty business * Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) * Excellent interpersonal skills * Good analytical skills * CPCU designation desirable
