Position Description

Position:	BUSINESS ANALYST
Reports To:	Business Technology Manager

Overall Purpose and Main Objectives:	This position is accountable for the analysis, design, testing and implementation of changes in information systems assigned by management. Responsible for meeting business needs on time and with good overall quality on various technology platforms.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:	1. Coordinates with end users in the core areas of underwriting, claims, and operations to determine requirements for systems development or revision. Maintains close working relationship with users to ensure that their needs are translated into meaningful system changes. 2. Writes detailed user specifications for new or revised system modifications to ensure that business requirements are met through internal and/or external resources. Obtains business area sign-off. 3. Develops basic project plans and timelines and reports on status of project delivery. 4. Troubleshoots systems problems and coordinates resolution with programming staff or software system vendors to ensure that systems changes are appropriate and viable. 5. Loads, updates and maintains various tables which control rates, security, and other table-driven parameters to ensure effective system usage. 6. Completes the testing of new or revised programs to ensure trouble-free performance. Includes creation of test cases and cycle summary. 7. Develops project documentation, forms and training manuals. Conducts training in the business process so that system changes are understood and utilized. Updates system documentation with all system changes made.
Required Knowledge and Experience:	* Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent business experience * 2 + years’ experience in systems analysis/programming in a business environment * Good oral and written communication skills * Excellent analytical abilities * Sound knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
