| Overall Purpose and Main Objectives: | This position is responsible for assisting the Chief Actuary with senior level rate reviews, reserve reviews, preparation of schedule filings, competitive rate analysis for multiple new products, and annual re-evaluations of reinsurance programs. |
| Essential Duties & Responsibilities: |
* Reporting directly to the Chief Actuary, and with little supervision, perform rate reviews for major lines (Auto/Homeowner/Commercial), new products and other lines of business (i.e. BOP, GL, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, Ocean Marine, Assisted Living). * Perform quarterly reserve reviews for major lines (Auto/Homeowner/Commercial) and minor lines (see above). * Perform competitive rate analysis against other carriers. * Assist in yearly evaluation of reinsurance program. * Assist in preparation of Annual Business plan and backup person primarily responsible for this function. * Perform annual impact analysis for all contingent commission programs operative in the forthcoming calendar year. |
| Required Knowledge and Experience: |
* Bachelor's or advanced degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, or other related field * 3+ years' experience in actuarial practice in a Property Casualty business * 5+ Actuarial Exams completed * Demonstrated ability to work independently, with minimal supervision * Strong proficiency with computer applications both PC (Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, Power Point, COGNOS) or other client-based data retrieval tool * Ability to work with business unit managers to retrieve, gather and convey vital information necessary to complete the job. Must have strong, demonstrated problem solving skills |
